Projects
Things I designed, built, or broke on purpose.
Competition robots, clinical devices, software, and the boats and cars in the garage. Newest first inside each group.

Engineering
Devices, robots, and rigs
Designed, built, tested, and written up.
Yellow Submarine Toy
Design lead, DFM challenge, Duke Toy Fair
A wind-up Happy Meal style submarine engineered to injection molding standards, a choking-hazard test, and a $0.63 unit cost at 2 million parts a year.
2024
bCPAP Liquid Level Monitor
Research and Design Lead, Makerere University, Uganda
A sub-$15 monitor that alerts nurses when a bCPAP water chamber runs dry, designed for local manufacture in Kampala.
2023
Prosthetic Mobility Device for a Paraplegic Cat
Independent researcher, Jack Linger Explorer Grant
A $500 grant, a Savannah cat with a spinal injury, and a leg support problem that a prosthetist solved better than my CAD intuition did.
2022
Blind Assist Wearable
Mechanical, electrical, and enclosure design, Obstacle detection and object ID
A chest-worn LiDAR and camera device with spoken callouts, built from about $50 of components against a commercial benchmark that retails above $4,000.
2022
RC Submarine / ROV
Lead designer, Open-brief robotics project
A tethered ROV designed from first principles, with custom propellers and a custom surface controller. A learning project, not a cost project.
2020
DARC SIDE, FRC Team 6502
Member to Pit Lead to Technician to Captain, FIRST Robotics Competition
Rebuilt a high school robotics program from the inside, then led it to a record fundraising year and top 10 in North Carolina.
Software and AI
Code and models
From high school machine learning to the AI tooling I build now.
ToleranceForge
Founder and Developer, AI tool for GD&T and cost
TurboTax for drawings. A multi-model AI tool that reads 2D drawings, flags GD&T errors, and prices the cost of over-tight tolerances.
2025Applied AI and Automation
Builder, Workflows, agents, and tooling
An operations stack for an investment firm, reusable AI skills, and the tooling habits behind ToleranceForge.
2023Early AI and Machine Learning Work
Self-taught, high school, Python, PyTorch, scikit-learn
A reinforcement learning Snake agent, an A* pathfinder, a face recognition attendance tracker, and a sentiment classifier. Tutorial-grade, and the start of the habit.
Builds and restoration
The garage
Boats, cars, and houses. Things that probably should have stayed assembled.
Marine and Automotive Restoration
Owner-operator, Personal builds
Two Boston Whalers, a Carolina Skiff rebuilt and sold, an Alfa Romeo Giulia finished, and a 1970s Porsche 911 in progress.
2021
Home Restoration and Woodworking
Design-build, Residential, lakefront, and coastal properties
A full beach house redo, structural and electrical repairs on lake and residential properties, and custom pieces from an osprey nesting platform to Duke-style benches. Hundreds of smaller projects not shown.
