The problem
Growth equity sits in an awkward middle. The company is past the earliest speculative risk, but the metrics of a mature business are not proven yet. A firm investing here needs a repeatable way to tell genuine market leadership from a good pitch, because a missed diligence gap at this stage carries real capital risk. The process also has to work across borders and sectors at once.
What I do
Tulypp Capital Partners is a boutique investor in deeptech, AI, energy, and resilience, working with a consortium of more than 1,500 family offices, former founders, and VCs. I cover MedTech and aerospace, and screen across other deep tech verticals. Over 1,000 companies screened so far, with calls held with more than 40 of them.
- Source and screen growth-stage companies, then take first calls with founders and executives
- Run diligence end to end: full data room reviews, technical and commercial review, and a first pass on legal documents before counsel sees them
- Write and present investment committee memos that turn diligence into a clear recommendation
- Work from sector market maps to find whitespace before sourcing conversations. I use maps built by others and have not yet built one of my own
- Support investments in the $1M to $10M range alongside co-investors
- Built the firm’s first AI operations stack across Claude, Notion, HubSpot, and Google Drive, including reusable call prep, IC package, and outreach workflows
- Daily tools: PitchBook and Crunchbase for sourcing and comps, HubSpot as the CRM, Notion and Google Drive for the deal files, Claude for the drafting and research layer
What the engineering background does here
Evaluating a growth-stage company is the question an engineer asks of any new system. Does the architecture scale, or does it only work at the current size? The inputs change by sector, so I got comfortable moving across robotics, medical devices, space, and energy rather than specializing narrowly. Sourcing leads myself and taking them to a partner office an ocean away is the clearest evidence that this is deal generation, not only deal analysis.
Deal names, scores, and internal process stay off this site. That is a confidentiality obligation to the firm and the founders, not a stylistic choice.
